The New Spring/Summer 2011 Swarovski Innovations

Inspired by the Art Nouveau movement, in their own words “CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements for Spring/Summer 2011 reflect a desire to re-establish harmony with nature. They draw on the glittering beauty of the Art Nouveau movement; organic, textured forms; and the lush freshness of plants and flowers, to provide designers with a shining source of inspiration.”

There are plenty of new shapes and cuts to keep the artist excited. Designer Andrée Putman has created a collection of Fantastic Flowers, with the delicate, yet graphic Ginko, Zinnia and Lotus Pendants.  They just beg to be layered, bound, stacked and beaded together. There is also the Wing Pendant-as the name suggests, in the shape of a soft, rounded wing.

As for beads, we have the super ‘Artemis’ cut- a conical shape great for use with round beads.  Imagine a crystal bead to taper off the ends of a strung line, or a bead to use as a drop down to a larger round on a headpin.  We like this one!!!

The Square Bead with Double Holes is a fun idea too-imagine the possibilities for multi-string designs.  There is the ‘Wing Bead’ and the ‘Cosmic Square’ too.  It is an asymmetrical square (yes, I know, that doesn’t exist, it should be called just a ‘polygon’!) and opens a whole world of design possibilities.

And the piece de resistance….the Crystal Baroque Pearl.  YEAH!!!!  We have been begging for this for a long time.  An irregular round to give all the feel of freshwater pearls but with the consistency and durability (it is resistant to UV light and perfumes, etc) of the Swarovski Crystal Pearl.  A organic shape which, paradoxically looks so modern too.  Back to nature!

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE NEW COLORS??????

We love them!  A fresh, clean ‘Fern Green’ is being launched.  Darker than Peridot, lighter than Emerald-somewhere in between with an intensity of green color that is striking.  And along side of this a subtler ‘Provence Lavender’.  The name alone will sell it!  We like this color because it is quite soft when paired with ‘Crystal’ and lighter shades, but the color ‘pops’ when paired with a strong opposite like the ‘Fern Green’.  It has a softer, bluer hue than ‘Light Amethyst’.  So classic and feminine!  To match, the ‘Lavender’ pearl is being launched too-back to the soft, ‘pearlescent’ appearance after the glossy ‘Coral’ of last season.  Very girly, very pretty, very special!  To be worn with high-shine lipgloss we think:)

We have ours on ‘pre-order’ so we hope it won’t be too long!!!!  We’ll let you know by newsletter when they are in, so make sure you are signed up to receive it!  Visit the home page of our website and add your email address to the box on the left hand side of the screen.
